These super-easy homemade flautas are made perfectly crispy in the air fryer – without any cooking oils! They’re simple, delicious, and couldn’t be more perfect dipped in my two-ingredient avocado lime dip. Cannot wait for y’all to try these for a fun dinner any night, or for a great game day or party snack!

You can try any tortilla for this recipe but my favorite, tried-and-true for getting super crispy without any extra fat are the almond flour tortilla from Siete. I love grabbing the big pack at Costco for the best deal!

They crisp up like no other and are super easy to work with. Just warm them up before rolling & keep in a towel until ready to pull them out & fill, one at a time!

When filling, I lay out one warm tortilla at a time and sprinkle about 1 tbsp of shredded cheese along one side where the closure will be once rolled.

I then use a tablespoon dough scooper to add 2 tbsp of filling to the center, and use my fingers to shape it into a narrow line in the center of the tortilla.

Then I roll, gently but somewhat tightly. When I arrange on the air fryer basket, I make sure that the “seam” or closure side with the cheese is facing DOWN so it helps seal it up when cooking.

Now, that avocado lime dip: you MUST make! It is truly the easiest dip ever. Make it in a bullet style blender, or use a stick blender if you have one – the easiest way!

It’s creamy, fresh, smooth, and just pairs perfectly with those crispy flautas. A great healthy alternative to sour cream and somehow even more satisfying (sour cream was always my fav til this!)

Can’t wait to see y’all make these! Be sure to tag me over on Instagram / report back here in the comments if you do!

Air Fryer Flautas with Avocado Lim Dip | GF

Super-easy homemade flautas are made perfectly crispy in the air fryer – without any cooking oils! They're simple, delicious, and couldn't be more perfect dipped in my two-ingredient avocado lime dip.
Prep Time10 minutes
Cook Time16 minutes
Total Time26 minutes
Servings: 12 flautas

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 packet mild taco seasoning
  • 4 oz can diced green chiles
  • 3/4 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • 12 almond flour tortillas I like the Siete brand
  • 1 medium avocado
  • juice of 2-3 limes

Instructions

  • Warm a skillet over medium to medium high heat and add the ground beef. Cook until browned. Use a wooden spoon to break it into fine crumbles. Add the taco seasoning and diced green chiles, and cook 1-2 more minutes to combine and warm through.
  • Prep the tortillas by warming them up so they don't break while rolling: either for 30 seconds in the microwave, in a stack wrapped in paper towels; OR on the stovetop in a small dry skillet one at a time.
  • Keep the warm tortillas wrapped in a towel while you fill & roll one at a time. Bring out a warm tortilla, then sprinkle 1 tbsp of shredded cheese along the edge where the flautas will seal up. To the center, add 2 tbsp of the meat mixture and shape it into a horizontal rectangle. Roll the tortilla up, gently but somewhat tightly, ending where the cheese is.
Place the rolled flautas in the air fryer basket, seam side down.
  • Air fry for 4 minutes at 450ºF. Flip the flautas, and cook for 2 more minutes or until as browned as you like.
  • While the flautas cook, you can make the dip. Scoop the avocado out into a bowl and add the lime juice (start with 2 limes and add one more if you like!)
Use a stick blender to blend until super smooth. If you don't have one, you can do a bullet style blender or even just mash well with a fork. Easiest if your avocado is nice and ripe!
  • Serve the flautas hot & crispy, dipped in the avocado lime dip. ENJOY!

Notes

If you have any left over flautas, they store great in the fridge and can be reheated in the oven or toasted oven at 350ºF until warmed.
