I’ve gotten the cooking time & temp down to perfection on these sweet potatoes and learned a few tips and tricks along the way. When you roast your sweet potatoes just right, you get sooo much flavor – not to mention the spices that make this taste just right!
These sweet potatoes are far from bland, yet somehow seem to pair with everything. Really! Make a huge batch at the beginning of the week, and serve them up for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
How to Eat Cinnamon Chili Roasted Sweet Potatoes
Try them with any dish! Here are a few of our favorite ways…
- with Asian dishes, scooped under a stir fry or “Egg Roll in a Bowl”
- in a “power bowl” for breakfast or lunch (we love with ground beef, greens, and a fried egg)
- mixed into your egg scrambles
- served alongside steaks or burgers
Notes
- Use parchment paper for easy, non-stick cleanup
- Dark colored baking sheets give the best crispiness & color when roasting (even through the parchment!)
- Thoroughly wash & scrub your potatoes before cutting, but make sure they’re patted completely dry so they will get crispy
- Use whatever spice blend you like – this is our favorite sweet & savory blend that goes with everything!

Cinnamon Chili Roasted Sweet Potatoes
Ingredients
- 2 lbs (about 3 large) Sweet Potatoes
- 2 Tbsp Avocado Oil
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Chili Powder
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt plus more to taste
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
- Chopped Parsley or Chives (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400ºF. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Dice the sweet potatoes into evenly sized 1/2" cubes. Add to the baking sheet and drizzle with avocado oil and sprinkle with spices. Toss to coat, then arrange in a single layer (use two baking sheets if needed).
- Transfer to the oven and roast for 40 to 45 minutes, flipping once around the 25 minute mark. You'll know they're done when the edges are crisp and insides are soft and tender.
- Remove from the oven and season with an extra pinch of salt, or to your taste. Serve hot, and store any leftovers in the fridge.
